Host the Ultimate Thanksgiving Dinner! | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant
“Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action.”—W.J. Cameron
Is it your turn to host Thanksgiving dinner this year? As a Pink Zebra consultant, I know the pressure that can come with throwing a big event like a Thanksgiving meal. Fortunately, a little bit of advanced preparation can make all the difference!
No Detail Left Unturned
Are you ready to be the hostess with the mostest when it comes to throwing together the Thanksgiving feast this November? The first thing you need is a plan.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when getting your Thanksgiving dinner mapped out:
How many people are coming?
What are you serving?
Where will you be serving Thanksgiving dinner?
Will you ask guests to bring a side dish and/or dessert?
Will you be offering an appetizer?
What time will you host the event?
Do you need decorations? If yes, what do you want decorated and how?
By getting your table decorations set and Thanksgiving menu created ahead of time, you're more likely to feel put together and capable on the big day.
You can also plan to cook some of the side dishes ahead of time, so that they're ready to go and only need to be reheated.
Set the Table
Who says you have to handle everything on Thanksgiving Day?
Get your table all set up and ready to go for the big meal. Put out all the place settings, and determine what extra touches, like decorations, you want to include.
Don't worry that you're taking up space in the dining room! The family can eat in the kitchen or even the living room for a day—it won't hurt anyone.
Ask for Help
Remember, just because you are the hostess, that doesn't mean you have to do everything on your own!
Divvy out some of the responsibilities. Ask others to bake or cook a favorite dish, or have someone else provide the decor. This can take some stress off your plate this Thanksgiving holiday!
