School Is Out...But Work Is Not | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

The kids have probably been counting down until the last day of school for a while. And while you are excited about having them home this summer, work doesn’t stop.

As a Pink Zebra consultant, I am familiar with the need to balance work with family time. That’s why I want to offer tips on how you can entertain the kiddos during the summer months while still getting work done at home.

Make a Summer Plan Now

It doesn’t take too many days off of school before the kids start yelling, I’m bored! So go ahead and get a plan in place now for how you can keep them entertained while you are being productive.

Anyone Up for a Play Date?

Chances are you are not the only parent with the need for summer care. However, caregiving in the summer can become expensive—fast.

So talk with your friends about their plans for the summer and consider hosting a summer play date group where everyone takes turns taking the kids throughout the week so that others are able to get work done! That way you know your kids are in good hands, having fun with other kids and you are not having to spend an arm and a leg for child care.

Keep the Learning Going

During the day, set up educational stations for the kids to go through while you are performing work tasks. For instance, for one hour they can listen to an audiobook, the next hour play an educational game on the iPad, and so on and so forth!

That way you do not have to worry about sticking the children in front of a TV while you get work done. Instead, they’ll be spending time having fun while also learning—and you can get some work done.

Who Is Ready for Summer Camp?

Has your child ever been to camp? There are a number of options available during the summer months. From day camps to overnight camps, do your research to find what type of camp is best suited for your child.

Planning a Family-Friendly Memorial Day Party | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

Memorial Day is right around the corner. Are you in charge of hosting the holiday weekend?

Let me put my planning skills as a Pink Zebra consultant to the test by giving you some ideas on how to plan a fun and memorable Memorial Day weekend party!

Take the Memorial Day Party Outdoors

If the weather behaves itself, plan on spending Memorial Day outside!

You can set up a long table and chairs for guests to sit and enjoy a meal, while your backyard can have games spaced out for both children and adults—such as bean bags, volleyball, ring toss, horseshoes, baseball, soccer and badminton.

Make the Cooking Easy on Yourself

When hosting a large number of people for the holiday weekend, you want to make sure you are able to spend time with your guests. If you are stuck behind the grill all day, then you risk missing out on all the Memorial Day fun.

Who says burgers and hot dogs have to be on the menu? Instead, cook up pizzas on the grill so that the grill is doing most of the cooking—not you!

And better yet—you can even get the kids involved by allowing them to create their own pizzas using a variety of toppings!

Plan a Movie Ending

You are already outside, so why not put up an outdoor movie screen and end the holiday with a family-friendly movie! Not only will your neighbors be grateful that you chose a movie over fireworks to end the night, but you will always remember the time you watched a movie right in your own backyard!

And isn’t that the whole point of a holiday—to make memories?

Now that you have all your ducks in a row for your Memorial Day gathering, it is time to check out my website to see my latest collection of Sprinkles, Shades and much more that will fit in perfectly with your decor!

The Tips You Need to Host the Ultimate Bridal Shower | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

Did your best friend recently get engaged? What better time than now to plan the ultimate bridal shower?

And better yet, let my planning skills as a Pink Zebra consultant lend you a helping hand when putting together the best bridal shower possible!

Time to Celebrate the Bride

A lot goes into throwing a bridal shower, but that doesn’t mean it has to be all work and no play! In fact, throwing a bridal shower can be a great time, especially when it comes to making your bestie feel special during this time.

Let’s take a look at some tips for throwing the best bridal shower for your friend:

First, you want to make sure you get an idea of what your friend is looking for in her own bridal shower if she knows about it. If you are trying to surprise her, mum’s the word.

But if she is in the know, then you want to make sure you get an idea of what she wants, including a theme and people she is wanting to have in attendance. Then, once you get a good idea of what she wants, it is all up to you to put it together.

Where Is the Venue?

The first thing you need to consider is where you will be hosting the bridal shower. Depending on the theme, venue ideas for the bridal shower might include:

  • A restaurant

  • Park

  • Banquet hall

  • A home

Once you get a venue in place, then you will be more able to know how many people you can invite, what decorations you will need and so on.

What Will Be Involved in the Festivities?

Once you have all the bridal shower to-dos taken care of, like the venue, food and decorations, then it’s time to decide how you want things to go.

Do you just want to have an open shower where people snack and talk as they please? Or do you want to have cocktails, a sit down meal, music, games and presents?

You’ll want to plan it all out carefully so that nothing is overlooked.

Now that you know what it takes to throw the ultimate bridal shower, now it is time to find the perfect gift! Check out my website today to see my latest collection of Sprinkles, Shades and much more!

Stress Level Through the Roof? Here's How to Handle It. | Sandi Parkey Pink Zebra Independent Consultant

Stress is all around us. It can be found at work, within our finances and even at home.

It seems no matter whether you are a stay-at-home mom, career woman or a Pink Zebra consultant, you cannot hide from stress. Therefore, it is important that you learn techniques that can assist you in controlling stress before it starts to control you!

Give these tips a try to help rein in your stress levels:

Limit Your Caffeine Intake

OK, this one might hurt, especially if you are a coffee drinker. However, coffee contains caffeine, which can increase or exacerbate stress.

Therefore, try avoiding caffeine where you can and replacing it with drink options such as:

  • Diluted natural fruit juices

  • Herbal teas

  • Water, included flavored options

The aforementioned beverages help keep your body hydrated, which can ensure your body is better able to handle any stress that comes your way.

Start Getting More Exercise

It is extremely easy to come up with excuses not to work out. However, who is that really helping? It definitely isn’t helping your ability to handle stress.

When you exercise, you are able to create a calmer, more relaxed state of mind than if you were sedentary, since stress can increase the level of adrenaline and cortisol in your body. Physical exercise can help to bring it back down to a more normal level.

Don’t worry. This doesn’t mean you have to be a runner. There are a number of types of exercise you can do that bring about the same result, such as:

  • Brisk walking

  • Cycling

  • Dancing

  • Playing basketball

  • Swimming

  • Lifting weights

Make Sure You Get Enough Sleep

Although you might think staying up late to finish that project is a good idea, lack of sleep can lead to a very stressful day.

Therefore, it is important to give your brain and body plenty of time to rest each night so that you wake up rested and ready to conquer the day—as well as any stress that might come your way!
